C.A.T4™ and Genny4™

Advanced Cable & Pipe Locating Solutions

At Galaxy Energy Solutions, we employ C.A.T4™ Cable Locators alongside the Genny4™ Signal Generator to ensure the precise detection of buried utilities before any excavation work begins. This combination significantly reduces the risk of striking underground cables or pipes, helping to prevent accidents, service disruptions, and costly damages.

Why Use C.A.T4™ and Genny4™?

  • Enhanced Accuracy – The Genny4™ provides a clear, detectable signal that improves the performance of the C.A.T4™ in locating buried utilities.
  • Safety First – Identifying underground services before digging minimizes risks of property damage, serious injury, or even fatal accidents.
  • Industry-Approved – C.A.T4™ and Genny4™ are trusted globally, with approvals such as Network Rail certification for use on UK railway infrastructure.

Safe Usage Guidelines

  • Always Dig with Caution – Even with advanced locating equipment, excavation near buried utilities carries risk.

  • Follow Instructions – Carefully read and comply with all user guidelines and safety warnings.

  • Regular Equipment Checks – Test your C.A.T4™ and Genny4™ frequently with a known live cable for reliable performance.

  • Be Aware of Limitations – Not all power cables emit detectable signals; always use the Genny4™ to maximize accuracy.

  • Depth Estimation – Never rely solely on depth estimation functions to determine if mechanical digging is safe.

  • StrikeAlert™ Limitations – StrikeAlert™ may not activate even in the presence of live power cables; labels such as “CALSafe Enabled” do not guarantee activation.

  • Avoid Interference – Keep mobile phones at least 60 cm (24″) away during use to prevent signal disruption.

  • Calibration & Servicing – Ensure annual servicing and calibration by approved Radiodetection facilities. Unauthorized repairs are not recommended.

Network Rail Approved

C.A.T4™ and Genny4™ are certified for use on UK rail infrastructure (Certificate of Acceptance PA05/05450).
